Merit Vision

Mission

To support the growth of open shop construction and values by encouraging sound business practices and contributing to the training, development and well-being of construction industry workers.

Core Purposes

The core purposes of the Merit Contractors' Association are to:

Provide strong proactive leadership for the open shop construction industry, including the creation of a regulatory and business environment that supports open shop construction principles;

Provide human resources services and programs that meet the needs of open shop companies and contribute to the well being of their employees and their families;

Position construction industry jobs as attractive career options and support the development of a stable, appropriately skilled construction industry workforce; and

Provide education and support for our members to encourage sound business practices and keep them informed on open shop issues.

The Merit Contractors' Association will:

Maintain a strong focus on delivering competitive, cost-effective and high quality services that meet the needs of our members;

Services and Programs

Merit's core services and programs include:

Employee Benefits Services: Provision of benefits services for employees of member organizations.

Advocacy: Effectively represent the interests of the member organizations to government and other regulatory agencies.

Workforce Development: Assist construction workers to get the skills they need in a variety of areas including apprenticeship training, construction upgrade courses, safety training, and supervisory training; and assist with attracting prospective workers to member firms.

Communications and Information Sharing: Maintain a range of formal communications vehicles and mechanisms designed to keep contractor organizations and employees informed about Merit's services and the issues impacting the open shop construction industry.

Affinity Services: Facilitate member access to a range of affinity services.
